My path started in 1983 with an Atari 800XL and a dial-up modem. While other kids were gaming, I was writing code, running bulletin boards, and reverse-engineering early tech before most people knew what a computer could do. By 14, I had already built my first app in BASIC.
I didn’t wait for schools to catch up, they never did. I taught myself everything, then joined the United States Marine Corps, where I put that knowledge to use connecting military bases with early pre-internet systems. I walked out of the Corps and straight into the tech world, building software in C++ and Visual Basic before launching my own company in 2002.
What began as a software shop evolved into a serious IT operation. Today, Black Bear MSSP is a cybersecurity-first MSP focused on locking down healthcare, financial, government and other highly regulated and protected environments, and keeping threat actors out, not just reacting, but actively preventing breaches.
